Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa, aged 81, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) based on allegations of sexual harassment by a minor girl. The complaint was lodged by the mother of a 17-year-old, leading to the registration of a case by the Sadashivanagar police late on Thursday night.
The case has been filed under section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 354A of the Indian Penal Code. According to reports, the mother filed the complaint accompanied by the victim, and the case was officially registered past midnight.
The incident in question allegedly took place on February 2, 2024, when the mother and daughter visited Yediyurappa to seek assistance regarding a cheating case. The FIR alleges that Yediyurappa took the girl into a room, where he sexually harassed her before they left after five minutes.
